I like the way it looks. The simplicity is sort of refreshing. However, lack of PvP and point-click play are minuses in my book. With lack of PvP taking the cake.

I think it would be awesome if they allowed players to work with the demons to try and prevent game progression. Let's see what Blizzard does with this.

ehhh... easy now! One of the Diab III screenies where the toons were fighting outside and there was a RAINBOW... le sigh.

Welcome to DiablWoW 2.0 (Point-click version).

I wonder if we'll be seeing Carebears frolicking in dungeons instead of people getting impaled.

*EDIT* here's the badboy:

Please don't tell me that amongst all the vicious zombie slaying and demon gore that you are out spotting rainbows in order to slander this to-be-amazing game? :twak:

Firewall was my personal favorite. I was kind of hoping their next Diablo would be like fps style oblivion-esque or maybe even Diablo-the mmorpg. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fun. :smile_ok:

I LOVED Diablo and DII. The game looks amazing.

I think making diablo into a MMO would ruin it. But i would like to see more of a pvp focus.

Absolutely not... as I said, its simplicity is quite refreshing and I def. enjoyed DII (never played the original, though I heard it was amazing). I was just saying that judging my the UI and all of the vibrant colors (including the Rainbow), it's looking like a very bright, welcoming, and fun game (as opposed to a dark, demonic, diablo game... it's just different). Check out this picture:

I didn't make it, and it's obviously roughly done... but the user made it to show that the game could be more gloomy and less... err... rainbowy =] And I agree.

Another comment, which didn't worry me as much, was the Witch Doctor class and the comparison to WoW. But it's inevitable, in my opinion, that MMOs share similar classes... especially MMOs from the same developer.

Just some food for thought... I'm not trying to dead it.

To be more fair in respect to the contrasting old/new screenshots, the old ones are taken inside of a dungeon and the new ones are taken in an outside environment. Rainbows do in fact exist outside lawl.

I'm less concerned with the saturation and brightness of the colors and more concerned with this game kicking ass, and releasing already so I can play it >_<

To be fair in respect to the contrasting old/new screenshots... I didn't contrast old/new screenshots lawl. Those screenshots were all from D3; the most recent one I posted contrasted the shots + a rough reworking of lights and shadows, and an added blood spot in the dungeon. And, to me, even done roughly it appeared to have more of that old Diablo feel.

Also, about rainbows in fact existing... erm... rainbows are rare occurrences unless you frequent Niagara Falls (where there is at least one rainbow per day). Sparrows and Hummingbirds and butterflies exist, too... but would you expect to see them fluttering around in a game that purports to elicit mass carnage? /shrug

Yea, and you definitely can't go wrong since it's going to be on Bnet, and rumor has it that it will likely NOT require "pay to play."

Which is why I've yet to see sparrows and hummingbirds and butterflies in diablo 3. Though since there WAS a waterfall/river thing going on, there was a slight rainbow that I wouldn't have even noticed unless someone pointed it out, lol.

Hellgate:London did a fantastic job of making everything look very dark and decrepit. Look how well that game did. So awesome. http://smiliesftw.com/x/hsugh.gif

As long as levels/dungeons don't look like exact replicas of each other, I don't think there will be much of an issue regarding environment or landscaping.

Someone quoted that they had mentioned subscriptions on their list of new features, I'm just hoping that bnet still stays free to play. :\

UM OK....Not sure why you got sort of hostile there Forecast. I wasn't attacking you or anything. Rainbows aren't really that rare. Maybe grandiose ones are but small ones can be seen lots of places.

And yeah, sparrows and hummingbirds wouldn't really disrupt the dark feel of Diablo imo. They're just birds for christ's sake that would be used for some ambiance.

Again, not sure why you took that tone. If you thought I was being demeaning to you or sarcastic I suppose I apologize but that wasn't my intent.

The other thing to consider too is that in diablo games the entry levels are always relatively normal looking. The cathedral entrance in D1 and the fields in D2 werent exactly full of corpses on spikes or rivers of blood.

Least i hope thats why you dont see that shit in the video.

All I really care about is fun gameplay. I mean, I played WoW and it's hard to imagine it getting worse than that as far as bright colors and bloom.

Meh... I didn't mean to sound hostile, but I sensed sarcasm and just felt like I should give you some back. I can see now, re-reading, that I was a little too defensive =[ So sorry... DAMN SEA-AIR MAKIN' ME CRAZY!!! I mean honestly... vacations can be stressful as hell; even Gummy has been telling me that I've been short-fused lately, le sigh.

and this is my "Digga Face" (sort of inside joke between my brothers and I) next to the largest Aloe Vera plant I've ever seen on the coastline hiking trail between Monterosso al Mare and Vernazza.

But of course =] Our supper was a little hindered as a result of a large table that kept on annoying the owner, and it was busy as hell. Thus, my opinion of it was pretty low at first, but it got better when I saw them come in with a live fish to cook from across the street (at the Pesceria) for my secondo piatto. Everything was certainly delicious, so you can't argue with good food.

I suppose I would give it:

Price: 8
Service: 6
Taste: 9
Presentation: 8
Overall: 8

Great recommendation, though =] Possibly worth it just for the view and the history of the location.

No I didn't =[ I learned how to make some badass dishes while I was there, though. Mainly Tuscan, maybe a Ligurian or two.

i think for games, they can take overall theme over small logic like rainbow should be seen in outdoor area. I would still play the game, but dam i wish they did not make it so colorful to accommodate a couple more type of players.

shake fist at those "type" of player who prefer to see rainbow in a game of zombie, undead and crazy killing

It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We're aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We'll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.
