"The latest development is all the more controversial given Jackson's history, not just as a civil rights leader but as a minister and crusader against use of that word in particular. Devoted to the idea that language can transform the way people think, Jackson has repeatedly urged the entertainment industry to stop using the word. He even urged a boycott of sales of "Seinfeld" DVDs after actor Michael Richards used the word in a stand-up routine."

Fucking hypocrite.

I wonder if he is going to boycott himself?

Yeah I find that people like him tend to perpetuate racial tensions, not reduce them.

From the index TSP forum page all I saw was "Jackson caught on tape..." and I honestly thought it would be about Michael Jackson. Anyway I don't really doubt that he said a bad word but I think it's sort of odd how the right wing media is all over this. Firstly, the video of him using the word isn;'t out (yet). The whole story is based on what the folk over at Fox News and Bill O'Rielly are saying. So even though I don't doubt (very much) that Jesse could have said these things, it's still sensationalism. The story is about an "apparently" or a "supposedly". Sort of lame.

With that said I don't really care what Jesse Jackson says. I can barely understand anything he says as it is and many times he talking to an audience that doesn't have me in it. After listening to Jesse speak I feel as though I've listened to nothing. Also, didn't the Reverend Jesse Jackson father a child with his mistress a few years back?

RL calls...but I agree with Silver and Soulien's characterizations of Jackson.
