I am a HUGE Tool fan. I might pick this up. Will it be out for the Wii? Also, has the game evolved to the point where it will be too difficult for a person to learn if they have never played?

Not at all, just start on easy difficulty and you'll be good to go. There's tutorials and practice sessions to help you understand what's going on as well.

Definitely gonna spend some time with this one.

The one that really stands out for me is Angel of Death.

I've become a fan of the music games. I still play Rock Band and I am still working on Guitar Hero 2. Lately I've been going expert/expert guitar and vocals in Rock Band. Very challenging and so far undoable on harder songs. Hmm just talking about it makes me wanna play.

eta: also when I play guitar and sing I don't strive for 100%. So even though it's harder it's sort of less stressful.

And Timey, my seven year old daughter plays guitar on easy, so you can too. There's a bit of a timing thing to get down but once you are past that the learning curve is nice. IMO.

Start on Medium, not easy.
lol, a few of my friends have done this as well... They said Easy skips so many notes that it's hard to get the timing down. I agree with them.

EXPERT OR BUST

It's more about getting used to using 4 buttons and 4 fingers, also Easy doesn't introduce much in the way of tricky combos, chords, hammer ons, etc. So when/if you do switch to Medium from Easy, you have to relearn the right way to play anyhow, so just start on Medium.

My guitar playing friends find that easy skips so much that it's hard for them. Also most of them are sort of anti-music games..I dunoo they really are in real rock band...but whatever. Anyway my non guitar playing friends who have tried Rock Band mostly have trouble with holding the guitar comfortably and getting used to the idea of holding a button down and strumming. I remember the first time I tried Rock Band I forgot to strum at all and I (well sort of) can play guitar...but yes very badly. Once I got all that down I was ready for medium. This took maybe 2 songs.

I had a lot of trouble learning to do the hammer ons and pulloffs. I can really only do the hammer ons. Pulloffs just don't compute with me. Too many years of piano.
It's just a matter of practice though. My friend and myself finished RB on expert but we had to practice 3+ hours for some of the songs that have bitchin' (e.g: Flirtin' with danger) solo sequences. No way I can do the expert drums though. My poor leg.

I'm saddened to see no representation from my favorite rock band of all time: Queen

They have so much good music yet I think between Rock Band and GH there has been a total of one Queen song and it wasn't even one of the good ones.

WTB some Freddy Mercury vocals.

Rest of the set looks pretty gnarly though. I shall bop my head in all its nerd glory whilst singing along to hot for teacher. :P

I thought that at first too. ;p Give it time. Once you pick up the rhythm it's just a matter of getting your limbs to actually do what you want them to do.

Plus expert drums is just fun... You actually feel like you're playing drums. :smile_ok:

Best singer ever imo.

Also, when you guys mention a guitar player, do you mean a video game guitar player or an actual guitar player that plays the game too?

Me, I have friends who are in RL rock bands. So, for me, yes real guitar players. None of them like any of the music games.

I am mainly thinking of my friends the Martha Fockers. They play mostly 80's poser and harder metal covers. CC DeVille from Posion is going to be playing at one of their shows after a Poison concert. Or maybe that happened already. They also know and hang with Duro Pesh from Warlock (not like on a regular basis but she goes to my friend's parties) and a whole host of old time metal folk. I dunno, they are just part of the scene.

I've never been in a real band but a lot of my old time friends have been and still are.

I'd love to sing some Queen too. I like the songs that remind me of my youth. The Game was the first albulm I ever got that I specifially asked for. Got it for Christmas one year when I was like 10.
