A friend of mine started telling me about this "Spindrift Project" and it intrigued me. I don't know much about it yet (I haven't read the book yet) but it sounded like an interesting read. If any of you enjoy reading books etc. and happen to give this one a read, I'd like to hear to any input from those of you who are more "scientifically oriented" than I. I'm admittedly not very well learned when it comes to what makes valid scientific research and the like.

Supposedly, this Spindrift Project "scientifically" validates the power of prayer. A strong claim. I'll have to read the book I guess to see what the deal is.

Never heard of that book but there have been a couple of recent studies regarding prayer and religious experience. On prayer, the "power" comes from human psychology. It's nice to feel as if a parental figure is watching over you. It's also good psychology to engage in deep thinking and introspection. Regarding religious experience, it has been shown that other types of euphoria...weather drug induced or induced with music and art, illicites the same response in the brain. So, religion is like pop pyschology and good music (or good drugs!!) Nothing supernatural invovled at all.

Maybe one day I'll pick it up again. I go through reading phases and currently I'm in an all time low.

Same. I've been reading a lot online but not too many books. Sad, sad, sad.
