I've always thought Sgt. York was one of the best war stories. They definitely do not get the respect they deserve.

I remember reading about Churchill and York in my History class and I agree, he is pretty badass.

I definately agree about Sgt. York. Nothing says badass like getting behind enemy lines and picking em off one by one by using turkey calls until they just give up. The best part was how he didn't want any fame for his actions.

Audie Murphy is still idolized in the US Army. The NCO Corps has a very prestigious society called the "SGT Audie Murphy Club" that is very hard to get into. It was always a big deal when an NCO in our unit made it in. We had a big ceremony and partied hard afterwards.

At Ft. Bragg, anyone who can pull this off is a god there. :bow:

Cpl. York (became sergent york after that famous event) is also widely regarded and both are questions on the PLDC (platoon leadership development course) and the board for promotion. god forbid you can't answer anything about either of those two... you'll get crucified.
