Someone convince Konrad not to get a flying squirrel (http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/photogalleries/l/blphsg.htm) for our house, please.

Scin: let me get this straight
Scin: you want to buy a "sugar glider" so that we can have an actual squirrel flying around our house?
Scin: like a real flying squirrel?
Konrad: it's a marsupial
Konrad: not a squirrel
Konrad: they have pouches
Scin: ...
Konrad: it says they are very friendly
Konrad: as long as you are nice, and they have space to fly around
Scin: i'm not nice
Scin: what then?
Konrad: you'll be nice to Oscar
Scin: you named the flying squirrel already?
Konrad: it's a marsupial
Konrad: we'll make him a mini pirate hat
Scin: a pirate hat? you ARE serious?
Konrad: dead serious

Inf help me out here.

I don't care if its a Harvard graduate, its still a goofy idea.

that sounds like an awesome pet idea...dogs and cats are so cliche.

Konrad seems to have a really good grip on things, thumgs up from me. :smile_ok:

Pet with pirate hat > Pet without pirate hat?

Anomaly

I also think its a good idea.

Whats the things diet? Is Konrad going to be walking through the park picking up acorns?

Scin: will he crap on our stuff?
Konrad: he'll poo in his cage
Scin: how do you know that?
Konrad: because
Konrad: that's where he'll be unless we're playing with him
Scin: so he'll crap on us when we're playing with him
Konrad: potentially
Scin: it's gonna smell
Konrad: says who?
Scin: it's an animal
Konrad: Brandon (Infuriare) smells...what of it?
Scin: but brandon doesn't crap on people
Scin: pets are a pain in the ass
Konrad: why wouldn't you want a flying marsupial?
Scin: i think it would be kinda fun for like two weeks and then the novelty will wear off and we'll be left with this annoyance to take care of
Konrad: I'd take care of it
Scin: and when you go out of town...
Scin: when we all go out of town...
Konrad: it'll be in it's cage
Scin: it's a living creature in our house... we all have to deal with it
Scin: and i'm allergic to marsupials
Scin: i break out in hives
Scin: and it'll want all this attention...
Konrad: that's why you get two of them
Scin: oh god now we need two?!
Konrad: otherwise they die
Scin: let's just get one then

Those things are not as fun as you think they are. One of my teachers had one back in middle school and it was almost as dirty as another teachers' ferrets. Not only that but they aren't some happy-go-lucky pets that fly around all the time. It generally sits and does nothing.

You could "accidentally" leave a door or window open. :p:

They eat fruit.

Have em gnaw on Scin then :p:

Potential babe bait though, make sure you warn them first though.

Get a Camel Spider. They're big enough to fetch a beer if you train it right. And they can't bite through Kevlar lined gloves. They don't chew on furniture either, just exposed non-Kevlar protected extremities.

Don't get two though, otherwise one will eat the other.

Plus they only live for a year, so if you don't take to it, it will be gone soon enough.

Why don't you just get a pet ringworm? It lives inside of you so you don't have to really take care of it, feed it, or maintain it. It's pretty self-reliant.

Kydorias, all that sand and sun is getting to you, boyo.

an ex-g/f of mine had one of those... let me tell you i HATE those damn things... they are annoying, loud, and some are very mean and they sound like the spawn of the devil... and they are kind of a pain in the ass to feed and take care of

I think maybe instead of a flying squirrel, we should get... like... a refrigerator.

OK so I know its not quite the same, but a couple years ago we had 2 rats and had them for about 6 months and I will never own another caged animal again. Stinky. Yuck. (Except for a bearded dragon, those guys are the coolest, but that detracts from the point.)

So the rats were cool like for the first month, and you play with them and take them out and let them run around....but it was GROSS cleaning out that cage, and pee would get on the wire rungs and its hard stuff to get completely clean. And of course I was the cleanest person in the house so I ended up cleaning the cage the most. And after awhile we were all so busy, it was hard to take time to play with them and then they get mean. It didn't take long for everyone to feel like they were more of a burden than anything.

Alrighty thats all I need to say....

Cinnabar
