I went to one where they had a mix of songs to dance to as they made their way up the aisle. Best man was doing a great right said fred impression, right up to the point where someones granny smacked him for indecent gyrations

You guys are just hearing about this? This was huge news last week. They recreated the entrance on the today show, and they were interviewed by every major network. Cute couple actually.

Gotta love all these wedding dances and stuff. I know personally if i were to ever get married again....would definitely go something this route. No use in spending all the cash on something boring. But thats just me.

Ok so I can definitely chime in on this one since ALL my buddies got married and had kids in the last two years. (my place is the only wife and diaper free zone these days)

Anyhow, I took some notes:
Note 1: Having a super cool priest makes for a good wedding.

Despite having a stout roman catholic upbringing (altar boy etc..) these days I am rather nonreligious however if I ever get married I know a kick ass retired Jamaican priest who speaks flawless English and will bend all the stuffy ass church rules as long as everybody is having a good time. He's right though, a wedding is a party. Despite all the fire and brimstone the church is normally pushing it's quite undeniable that Jesus was alllll over a good party. (water to wine!)

Note 2: If you can't get the cool priest (which is probably the majority since they are pretty rare) a destination wedding is a great choice. The people you really give a #$^#$^ about will be there and your wallet will not take a stupid amount of abuse. Also makes for super nice photos which are like almost the whole point of the wedding since that's all you/your kids will see in 20 years.

Note 3: If you can afford the best you wont be dissapointed. My sister married a well off guy a few years back, used the cathedral (same church Gretzky got married in), reception at the nicest and most scenic hotel in town etc.... nothing spared. Even with my obvious extreme bias a few years later I can step back and say that in conjunction with cool priest from 1 it was by far the nicest wedding/reception I have ever attended but it must have cost a LOT of money. I mean as my gift I paid the flower bill for them and it was $1500. Mind you they were some kick ass horticulture but $1500 in FLOWERS FFS. So basically if you happen to be high society and need to maintain the family image a traditional wedding with all the bells and whistles is definitely quite the occasion.

Me? I'm all over option B. Simple, get some nice memories, save money for a M5 wagon because the "family" needs new car and stuff.... :)

I'm surprised the flowers weren't more for such a big, fancy wedding. Flowers are serious business.

Actually I suspect I only got half the flower bill. They didn't tell me about the rest. :hmm:

You're totally right though. Flowers == serious business!

In reality those planters in the background (there were 5 of em') were like 4 feet tall and they look pretty damn tiny in the photo!

Yarr we skimped on flowers at our wedding and still dropped around 3k... Weddings a a huge money sink you just have to get a budget together and be sure to stick to it.

yeah i got this video like 2 or 3 weeks ago (when the video only had 100k views). I am the best man in my friends wedding in December (in Havre MT - omfg will it be cold). So I am trying to convince him we need to do this.
