Sad news for all Starcraft fans - again. Together with the report about the earnings for the second quarter Activision has also announced that Starcraft 2 will be released in 2010 and not as expected in 2009. Mike Morhaime said during the conference call that the game is delayed because the components for Battle.net 2.0 have not been finalized yet.

Only recently the announcement that Starcraft 2 won't support multiplayer games via LAN caused an uproar in the community and fans even started a petition asking Blizzard to integrate a LAN mode into Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. The developers were able to win back many supporters when they announced that Robert Clotworthy would return as the voice of Jim Raynor.

Lan mode was removed to combat piracy. At least that's the official story.

Lan mode would mean standalone crack of the game + hamachi VPN and boom free online play.

Actually I wonder how long it will be before the koreans find a way to use a host file entry to avoid it entirely.

Meh. This is one game I really don't care at all about.

Diablo 3 on the other hand, needs to be released ASAP

Happened with SC 1 NUMEROUS times, this won't be the first delay for SC 2.
