Is it just me or do some of you have wack job English professors. Last semester i had a flaming liberal who wore hipie clothes to school and this semester i have a professor who has purple hair and stutters. Just courious what kind of professors you all have.
All my english teachers (HS/College/Univ) have been hard ass feminists.
Now math teachers, thats another story.

Hey, nothing wrong with flaming liberals! The important thing is - was he a good teacher? I've always had pretty good english professors. It's really the history teachers that are sorta crackjobs.

I had to take a writing course freshman year. Everyone did. For some reason I always remember English teachers being reserved, their politics varied.
omg mutt you ARE SO RIGHT. It is sick how right you are. *cries*
I dont think Ive ever had an english teacher wear a dress either. Even at grad, it was a tux.

Strange... besides being slightly nerdy my english prof is pretty ok. Ive always loved crackjob history teachers. I had one in highschool, who when the office made an anouncement regarding cellphones (and how you cant have one in school) marched down to the office and yelled at them daring them to try and take his away. He also had very interesting ways of telling us that we were worms below shit in dirt while he was the ever amazing all powerful sun god... or something.
Suffice to say he was my fav teacher.

Mr. Sullivan, the best ever high school history teacher. This guy came straight out of a movie.
I'll never forget the first day of his class. As the students came into the classroom, he had one of these giant industrial size fans blowing at his head (it stood like 6 feet tall, 3 foot wide) while he sat at his desk. He screwed around with papers until the bell rang. The first thing he did was stand up, walk to the chalkboard, pick up a piece of chalk, and draw an ever expanding circle, just around and around and he said, "if I ever do this, get the nurse." lol ok, you had to be there.

The only quirky professor I had that I remember from High School was my Computer Science teacher. He was scatter-brained as hell and was very hard of hearing so he wore hearing aids. Every once in a while he'd ask a question and one of us would just mouth a response with no noise. He'd scramble to adjust his hearing aid higher then we'd talk full volume and he'd wince as his hearing aid blasted.

Jaus, I'm just commenting on the rhetoric of politics today. How the neocons have turned the word 'liberal' into an insult. Sorry but I'm not going to stand idly by and watch my convictions be made fun of.

From my point of view i have to agree, thats not true for many. Yes, there are some wackjob people, but libruls have their different views (as my parents are libruls and dont relate to any of that).
I do see your point though Diraker.
I definitely had more quirky history teachers than English...Mr Sigler, US History. He was 6'5", tall lanky...stone-faced and the most patient guy ever. We would have a 5 question quiz every day at the beginning of class on the day's previous lecture and his lectures actually kept people interested for the most part. I remember two guys getting into a fight right in the middle of the lecture in the back of class one day (over a girl, go figure), and they are rolling around throwing punches, bloody noses and everything and he said so matter of factly, as if it was part of his lecture, "you guys cut it out back there." OH and of course there was the night when two kids who were drunk and decided to go to his house and climb up his apple tree and he came out in his bathrobe with a shotgun and shot at the tree!

Although this year I got a really wierd one, she seems like she's teaching to retarded kids, then gets upset when we all look at her strange. This is what happen when you read shakespear kids! YOU GO CRAZY!!!!
