Yep, saw the Anand article yesterday, and am pretty excited myself, was planning on replacing my current rig around this time, and will see if my budget can swing one... would be a nice replacement for my 8800GTX which has had a good shelf life :D

That'll be cool for games when you don't have an inch of plastic between screens

My thoughts exactly.

For today I think AMD is partnering with monitor guys to get panels with very thin bezels and no lights on the front made for use with this type of setup. It's easy to do, there just hasn't been much of a demand till now.
However what is really gonna make this tech go from "pretty cool but slightly impractical" to "OMG GOTTA GET ME ONE NOW NOW NOW" is when the price of mass manufacturing ~20" OLED panels drops down into the <$500 range, hopefully even $2-300. At current rates it should happen in hopefully a couple years time.
Picture five 20" OLED panels 5mm thick in a 100" seamless horizontal configuration with wrap around CURVATURE. That my friends is going to be some revolutionary tech.

If there is a noticeable break between the screens I'll stick with a single one. I'll display other shit on more monitors but if I wanted a screen that took up my entire wall I'd want it completely seamless.

Yeah as that link suggests, while gaming makes a neato tech demo the real short term win here is for people who have uses for a single seamless massive resolution spanning a bunch of displays.
Before this it was a huge hassle to set up more then a dual display system but now you can trivially setup 6 with a single video card AND you can arrange them in any orientation and combination of resolutions.
Graphic design, huge ass spreadsheets, software development, monitoring, the list is endless. Heck, at work I make use of 3 displays (monitor and 2 laptops) and I could
EASILY use about 2 more.

Well the spreadsheets and monitoring don't need a uber video card, we have 2 sets of 6 monitor setups here at work and they are maybe $400 systems running them.
Maybe with graphic design it'd need something a bit beefier.

Indeed, point taken. Still, using how many video cards? 2 x Matrox triple head I guess?
Also I don't think the OS sees those monitors as a single resolution!

I'd rather have something like this to avoid the 1"+ grid dividing all the monitors.

Strictly for gaming of course.

Or something like this:

Here is the marketing page:

NVIDIAs announcement for their new stuff should be within a month or so, lets see what they have but I don't think they have anything ready to compete with this monster.
At least the AMD/Intel balance is sort of kept in check. Intel is killing AMD in the CPU department but conversely AMD is slaughtering everyone else in the GPU department.
