There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=ajQRdP9rsrX4&refer=top_world_news)

I really cant have much sympathy for someone who knowingly dislocates his head from the rest of his body using a firearm.

"In the 2003 interview with Salon, Thompson said he is a life member of the National Rifle Association and that he owned a lot of rifles, pistols and shotguns."

Gee, that is good PR right there. Next thing you know a study will come out saying "NRA members are 40% more likely to commit suicide with a gun".

If you are active in a certain belief, such as the right to bear arms, you should go out of your want not to harm that objective. Blowing your brains out definately does not help the cause, and for that, I call him an idiot for standing up for something his whole life, and then being contrary at the end.

He never claimed to be a champion of anything, he never asked to be a PR spokesman. In fact that sort of thing was exactly the opposite of what he was about. He was all about absolute and total sincerity of person and intention. He wasnt the most ethical or mainstream guy ever, but everything he said was exactly what he thought. He died just as fast and recklessly as he lived, and I'd rather see him go like that then hooked to a machine somewhere slowly fading away.
