Well, I have been watching a blog site that Claus Grovdal, one of the head honchos of DF runs. He posted a while ago with some contempt for WoW. He just posted this follow up the other day.
"Was there anything I wanted to steal from WoW? The mailbox system was nice, and we are considering it for our game.
Apart from that, I was of course blown away by their worldbuilding. We instantly decided to redo the capital cities of Darkfall when we first saw the WoW cities, and we just finished the redesign of the human capital today.
...and that's pretty much it. WoW is a beautiful, well-polished piece of MMOG software, but it's really lacking in the endgame content department.
If you, like us, enjoy PvP, there is pretty much zero content...
And no, battlefields does not count as PvP content."
I was interested in the fact that they thought they had the time to re-develop some of the worldbuilding they had done. It makes me really wonder what they are doing that is taking them so long.
