The thought of putting in effort to have it all ripped apart by a 16 year old in a split second isn't my idea of fun

...sigh i haven't found one person who agree's with me on this.
Someone killing my character would only make me more determined to do better with my next one.

I only glanced at the site, but it says you can only ahve one character per realm (I think that's what it said) .. so if one dies can you create another?

yes, one dies has the option of turning into an artifact maybe, and yes you create another one if you want.

When you confront danger in TerVarus, you literally are taking your life in your hands. While player characters are hardy, death leaves a permanent mark upon their soul, weakening their link to the world of the living. Should misfortune befall too often, that link will be lost, and the character's soul will depart... forever. With this daunting thought comes the tradeoff that only permanent death can offer in the form of a barrier against high level character stagnation and economic bloat.
So, it sounds like if you die repeatedly under certain circumstances, then perma-death would be the penalty.

I used to follow the "development" of that game...2 years ago.
Permadeath is the exalted feature of nearly every inexperienced PvPer around the world. Too bad none of them learn that you learn 10x more from dying than you do than running away and that no matter how good you are, you don't live againist 5-10x your times your numbers in any game.

I remember back in the days of UO there was a company making a Middle Earth game that was developed for years but never got released.
The main sticking points were perma-death and one char per person.
I always thought they were great ideas...but apparently distrobution companies thought it was a sure-fire way to drive customers away.

if you look on the boards and stuff it says you get 100 like life token type things 20 of them keep your binded equiment on you the other 80 are for you to respawn.
i been following this game since 2002 apparently i just checking in on it again recently and i wish it would get released but i doubt it ever will.

Permadeath on the intarweb = gay.
Well aside from PD, the big turnoff for me from ToA was their concept of "balance". I swear theres things in that game that seem like a waste of time to make (the ability to play a ahcaracter that can kill 20+ for one).
