Which is a good thing ^^
The guy in the interview was talking like it was revolutionary, but its been released for over a year now.

I could be wrong, things are a bit hazy and hard to find on the forums, but there are planned:
1. PvP servers with full pvp.
2. Drunken tavern brawling (loser gets thrown out of the bar).
3. Fortress/city seiging in certain areas.
I am uncertain about whether or not the pvp is instanced. I am also uncertain about the scope of the pvp servers and if they will be there on release. I am pretty sure its not a consensual system though.

Finally, there's "siege PvP". This will take place in the infamous "Border Kingdom" lying on the borders between Cimmeria, Aquillonia, Brythania, Nemedia, and Hyperboria. The "Border Kingdoms" were always a constant place of battle, skirmishes and war in the books and Conan visited these areas on numerous occasions before he settled down as King. Now, as King, he has let it be known, that anyone proclaiming one of these areas part of "Greater Aquillonia" will be rewarded with a title at his court. This means that several court-based individuals will sponsor forays into Border Kingdoms with the goal of setting up a castle to control an area in Conan's name.
Using the village building technology, guilds can find a sponsor and build their own castle in a Border Kingdom instance. This will have to be defended against other guilds. You must destroy enemy walls, towers, and defenders before razing their keeps and castles to the ground. The ones holding areas in Border Kingdoms will gain bonuses to their guild. Let the best Siege Engine win!
I'm not sure what to make of this. They also have arenas and instanced pvp too, similar to what guild wars did..which wasn't bad. I'm just hoping there is enough area to maintain a city and that it is somehow similar to sb.
Godager: PvP is consensual. Our aim is that you will never be killed unless you ant to participate. PvP should be fun and exciting, not filled with griefers and exploiters. In the darkness of Hyboria, though, and its hidden alleys and grim battlefields everything should be seen as a legal tactic to crush your enemy!
Godager: Spellcasters are different in Age of Conan than what you normally see in online games. First of all, only Stygians will use arcane magic -- this foul form of power is not used by the saner Cimmerians or Aquillonians. Second, magic will look, feel and handle differently than in other games. There aren't any magic missile tossing clowns with funny hats. Instead we have more "real" magic, manipulating reality, shaking the Earth, and summoning the odd demon from an unspeakable Hell.

I think I have read that article before and this is what stuck out for me. Right now, I don't have a computer to run some of the high end games. Mine is starting to destroy itself. Once I build my rig, I'll probably give several games a try.

That is probably an old article. The developers announced that there will be PvP servers. Here is a thread that has some more info:

Juyst as Miach said thats out of date info. They decided that they will release PVP servers when enough of a demand came to the AoC boards and wanted it.
They also announced that there will be maps with different rulesets.
Also if you watch the videos on the other thread youll see that player cities in this game are much much much muchm much larger than player cities in SB. They are "instanced" but devs have said that zones are also an "instance" so its still to be seen to what extent that means.

just the fact only one race gets to use it? or is a guild multi-racial?
different races have access to different magic. So priests are very different supposedly depending on your chosen race. so other races use different forms of magic.

Wow, its much farther along in development then I thought it would be.
I'm thinking what they've done is just create separate zones similar to what DAoC did, to reduce the lag issues, not create a world of instanced PvP. They said on the video that there would be instanced PvP similar to WoW but there would also be regular PvP which included drunkin' brawling and city seiging.
Overall its looking pretty good and of course 2 big :smile_ok: for having drunkin' brawling! <3 <3
