I'm doing well Squeak...I was just asking about you in WoW the other day, looking for ya to see if you were playing it.

Basically I should be doing some Strategy homework and am using anything and everything except playing wow to procrastinate.

How are you?

I'm doing great. Playing a druid in WoW named Tadyene. Having lots of fun, a game with content and PvP, what a concept.

Both are forms required by the Unites States Securities and Exchange Commission. 10Q is the quarterly form, 10k is the yearly statement that publicly traded corporations are required to file.

These are the basic tools that investors used to monitor the performance of the corporation at its basic economic levels. If you want to find a good investment, these are the places to start looking.

I myself really enjoy looking at the 10K more so than the 10Q. I prefer to look at the long term, and try not get caught up in short term market conditions. Plus, the 10K is much more of a production number that usually goes hand in hand with the company's annual report to investors. You can glean quite a bit of information from that as well.

Spawl,

10-q's are only 15 pages long or so, and 10-k's are over 60...I'm doing a report on colgate to get into an investment class for my mba program, but I'm doing it last minute. The appeal of 10-q's is hawt.

I know how long they are. I've done analysis projects on them both during school for my BS/BA and BS/BM and while working at Nextel. They had a cross-functional group of people analyzing the reports of the competitors, looking at pricing plans, customer survey results, and information about their technological position. I was a field technician at the time, but my job as part of this project team was to analyze the debt structure of the competing organizations, produce an estimate of their needs for technological expansion based on my knowledge, and develop programs within field operations that would enable our department to meet the corporate financial goals.
