If Dong and I purchase a home that was built 80 years ago, what is the likelihood that it is haunted?!

If you believe in ghosts then I think that any sort of odd sound or strange dream could be interpreted as seeing a "real" ghost, so I dunno 100%. Old houses are more drafty, creek more, might have some odd electrical anomalies and stuff too.

Dunno if I believe in ghosts but I guess I probably do. I watch a lot of those stupid ghosts shows and read a lot of stupid ghost books and also too much Unsolved Mysteries as a child scarred me for life.

Just remember if you see something out of the corner of your eye, you probably did.

But thats because our eyes and brains are very dialed into faces and recognition of possible threats. So if a shape or a shadow looks like it might be human, etc your brain might trigger that recognition.

Its like at night how sometimes you might see something in your closest but if you give your brain or eyes time to adjust it turns out to just be a pile of clothes, etc.

Check the house's history for any murders.

80 years old is a new build imo.

My house is 109 years old, and it is a new build.

My parent's place is around 160 years old...

No ghosts though.

Roxie
12-28-2007, 02:17 PM
how many is there supposed to be

Diraker
12-28-2007, 02:19 PM
there is no "right" answer...it's all subjective because there really aren't any faces

Mutt
12-28-2007, 02:27 PM
Here are the 13 faces I "see"
Ignore the black line on the top middle one, had to get rid of the red and I was lazy

Diraker
12-28-2007, 02:43 PM
yeah that's cool Mutt. That's what I see too.

In as much as humans are good at seeing faces (even when there aren't any) humans are good at seeing intent and design where there is none.

Roxie

on the left bottom 2 faces there is another face combined...the big white space

at least to me

i dont care what that artist says/said, he meant to put some faces in there. lame

The linked image was from another forum several years ago. I copied the location of the image but I don't have the thread I pulled it from. IIRC most people can find 8 faces, fewer find 12, and anything after that are unintentional faces. I have no idea what the actual intent of the artist was...this is just internet hearsay.

i dont care what that artist says/said, he meant to put some faces in there. lameHe certainly did, but it was mostly just the arrangement of the natural objects. If you cover up the eyes with a finger the objects reveal themselves less readily.

If he arranged the trees, rocks, etc in other shapes the brain would be less apt to pick up on them.

If you get those doors with a wooden grain in them often you can see facelike images in those as well. Obviously not intentional, just the makeup of the wood, etc can leave shapes akin enough to facial features for our brains to pick up on.

had to look it up, around here its referred to as kitty corner. I think its supposed to be catty corner though, from catawampus.

Why is there a ghost?
