During a recent debate McCain said that he helped move in Alito and Roberts to the supreme court, like he was proud of it. Anyway if he means what he says then I don't think he'd appoint/nominate judges that would be good for the country. But with that said McCain (of the republicans) seems like the least crazy.
Also, from what I can tell now that Thompson is out the corporate wing of the GOP seems to be pushing for Romney. McCain can expect a lot of smearing from them over the next few weeks...remember the 'push polling' from 2000 where the Bush people made McCain out to be a father of a black baby...or something like that? Dirty tactics with poor McCain at the receiving end, again.

One positive point about McCain is that he has a good sense of responsibility when it comes to the environment. This, and he is one of only a few Republicans that recognizes that the party betrayed their fiscally conservative roots.
Despite the allegations leveled at him concerning corruption, he really has done a lot to encourage campaign finance reform.

By the way... the author of that article really wasn't very subtle about his political opinions.
