"Our aim is not to construct a computational theory that explains and predicts actual human behavior, but rather to build artificial agents made more interesting and useful by their ability to ascribe mental states to other agents, reason about such states, and have -- as avatars -- states that are correlates to those experienced by humans," Bringsjord said. "Applications include entertainment and gaming, but also education and homeland defense."

Interesting stuff.

So basically these researchers claim that they are going to (key point here, they havent actually done anything yet)create the most advanced turing machine to date, and they are going to use it to help entertain furries and pedos in second life. Sorry no.

[edit]
re-read it. They're trying to make some NPC-controlled autonomous avatars in second life with better AI. That's pretty cool, then.

oops! I didnt know there was an actual device called a turing machine. I did some research, that's not what I meant. What i meant was a machine that could pass the turing test. My bad.

edit - yeah, the turing test for AI

a turing machine like this would just have a ton of states.

Um......

For someone that wants to take down google, you should know that all modern computers are basically turing machines.

?
Aradorn obviously knows what a turing machine is, he's the one who called me on it.
